Job Description
Laboratory Technician Job-Nairobi
Salary Scale: Ksh. 30,170.00 – 40,060.00 p.m (CSG 11),
House Allowance: Ksh. 10,000.00 p.m.
Risk Allowance: Ksh. 3,000.00 p.m.
Leave Entitlement: 30 days per financial year,
Medical Benefits: As existing in the Civil Service,
Terms of Service: Pensionable.
Qualifications
- served for a minimum period of three (3) years at the grade of Laboratory Technician II CSG 12 or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector;
- a Certificate in any of the following fields: – Laboratory Science, Laboratory Technology or Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution; and
- shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
Responsibilities
Specific duties and responsibilities at this level include:-
- receiving, recording, packing, dispatching, analyzing and preserving test samples;
- maintaining biological cultures;
- preparing media, stains and dyes;
- performing vaccine, animal products, inputs and by products quality assurance tests;
- maintaining laboratory records and equipment;
- caring for laboratory animals; and
- undertaking disease surveillance activities.
