Trans-Nzoia County Public Service Board invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions in the county public service:

MEDICAL LABORATORY OFFICER, CPSB 09- EIGHT (8) POSTS

 Responsibilities

This is the entry and training grade for degree holders. An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of a senior and experiences officer. Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:- receiving and scrutinizing laboratory requisition forms, preparing clients for collection of specimen; receiving , collecting, labeling, and registering of patients’ specimens; preparing reagents; examining specimens ; writing and recording of results; preparing stains and reagents, recruiting and preparing and bleeding blood donors for transfusion services.

In addition, duties and responsibilities will include:-performing blood grouping; storing blood products according to their requirements; screening for blood transfusion transmissible infections; issuing blood and blood products to peripheral health facilities; preparing blood products; collecting and analyzing data; processing the specimen according to the specific Standard Operating Procedure[SOP]; supervising the disinfection, washing and sterilization of apparatus; and mentoring and coaching trainees on practical attachment.

Qualifications

For appointment to the grade, the candidate must possess:

  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or any other equivalent qualification from an institution recognized by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board;
  • Certificate issued by the Kenya Medical Laboratory and Technicians and Technologist Board[KMLTTB];
  • Valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Laboratory and Technicians and Technologist Board[KMLTTB];
  • Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution
  • Satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the constitution
